“Believe you can do it NO MATTER WHAT!”
The journey I am about to share with you has its twists and turns much like the Chilean Miners whose experience was a testament to the human spirit – when an international effort came together to save the lives of 33 men trapped underground in a small, dark mine in Chile for nearly 70 days.
Their story and definitely parts of my own, as you are about to hear, illuminate the power of the human spirit in what seems utterly impossible actually became possible due to a deep belief and the support of others who gathered around a cause.
It is with honor, as I share the stage with these incredibly courageous men, my core message of “Believe you can do it NO MATTER WHAT!”
In fact, the inspiration I received recently at an event in Los Angeles where I heard world renowned author speaker Lisa Nicols, was about her newest book NO MATTER WHAT which resonates with my outlook on life as you will hear. So thank you Lisa for your inspiration!
Right off—I will say my stellar work ethic and belief in a dream NO MATTER WHAT came from my humble upbringing by my loving, hard working, amazing Puerto Rican parents.
With a father who managed to graduate from high school having good Math and Spelling skills and a mother who was incredibly strong and hard working, I owe a great deal of my success today to them and here’s why…
BACKGROUND: my core values of hard work and perservernce began
My grandfather worked in the sugar cane plantations in Dominican Republic. He also was not very loyal to my grandmother so at 36 years old, my grandmother, Maria Lajara Baez decided it was better to be alone than to remain with the father of her children.
Eventually, my grandmother connected with some relatives in the US that helped her move to New York City.
It was here that my core values of hard work and perservernce began even before I was born.
There’s a lot to be learned from my grandmother. She was an amazing woman and I love sharing this part of my story because you will come to see the importance of taking a stand about your life and believing in your dreams NO MATTER WHAT!
It’s remarkable what my grandmother accomplished as a Single Mother back in the 40’s.
I was raised on believing dreams are possible with belief and hard work. My stellar work ethic can be attributed to my mother and my grandmother. My grandmother had a dream to bring her girls to live in US from Puerto Rico and she worked hard to make that come true.
Although there was no man in their household, it was a home full of love not only of family, but extended family and community.
