When a tooth is so badly destroyed that it needs a dental crown, we begin by removing all the decay and shaping your tooth. Then, we take an impression of the tooth and send it to a dental lab for a custom fit. In the meantime, we put in a provisional crown to protect the tooth while you wait for your permanent crown to come in. Once the new crown is ready, you will come in for another visit to have it permanently cemented to the newly prepared tooth.
